Entertainment?
I just read a blog where the blogger - very Catholic of course - mused if Mass should be entertaining. Result: (surprise) No. While in general I agree, there are a few things that the Catholic parents could improve upon. Have children sit up front. For the life of me I can't understand what parents try to teach their kids about the Faith if the kids only see some adult's back. Don't permit crayons, crackers and juice. It's not a show. Bribe your very young children differently. Give Junior a dollar if he remembers just one theme from the homily. You'd be surprised how attentive he will be. Prepare yourself and your children in advance. Saturday night is a good time for Sunday morning Mass. If parents only go to Sunday Mass out of duty and don't care what the kid does as long as he or she is reasonably quiet, mind you, not following the Mass, just being absorbed in Mom's pocket book, is it then a wonder that if these "Catholic" kids accompany their friends to a holly roller protestant service with loud music that grabs their attention that they would be thrilled?
