What feelings?

I have a friend whose mother got admitted to the hospital again. Sad. I have a friend whose nephew will go to a new school. Wonderful. I feel good for one and bad for the other but overall? Does one feeling cancel out the other? I am on a elevator and depending on what floor I am on my feelings change: First floor: women's feelings, Second floor: men's feelings, Third floor: houseware and good china feelings, Fourth floor: gift wrap and returns feelings. Where is the floor for the sad friends, for the happy friends feelings? Mixed up in the grab bag. No wonder. One huge size has to fit all.
