I am reading this good book by Buddy Levy how Mexico got conquered by Hernan Cortes. There may have been a different outcome if small pox had not arrived with the Spanish. The human sacrifices by the Aztecs were brutal but the Spanish were hell bent to get their hands on all the gold and a lot of the good looking women.
