Last night I went to the first of four lectures given by Fr. Frank Matera on the Gospel of Matthew. Superb. We had gone through the Gospel of Matthew in Steubenville and I was most interested to compare. Fr. Matera divided the Gospel differently and I got new insights again. Also he called gospel reading akin to being occupied with "his lover." Similar what I picked up recently that the Bible can be looked at as a person whom one loves dearly.
I will be teaching Revelation to a group from the Church of the 12 Dwarfs and told them to come to this as well. Most of them could come and we almost had a large table for ourselves. Actually I should not call the Church of the 12 Dwarfs that way. It was the Church of Lovely People with a Head Dwarf. I should call it the Church of the Head Dwarf. Sounds like Church of the head lice. Fits as well.
Fr. Matera will be retiring next year and it will be a loss around here. He is nationally and internationally famous for New Testament studies and his specialty is St. Paul. There were way over 100 people at the lecture.
