Universal Salad/Universality

Rabbi Seligman gave a wonderful homily today about our Universal Salad. Told us that the Sacramentary will change in November to accomplish this. As a famous German philosopher once said: "Das juckt mich nicht!" That does not scratch me. My priest friends are divided among themselves if this is good or bad. English is a business language. Not some poetic Latin language. We are trying to get a square peg in the proverbial round hole. I will have my Mass card in front of me probably for the rest of my life. So be it. In the meantime we will supposedly say the same thing in English, French, German, Kazakhistani or whatever. If I don't speak any these other languages how useful is it? Is there a temple police? The English version was fine by me. Now we are trying to frou-frou it up. Make it more poetic. Oh-la-la! Next will come liturgical dancing and we will do the Cancan. Some might say in the Catholic Church one goosesteps already. Will the choirs of the Catholic Church march in in Lederhosen? Ah -  what a wonderful Universal Salad.
