The crusaders of the Knights of the Horses finally made it to Jerusalem. There was a problem they had overlooked. They had made reservations at the Notre Dame hotel in Jerusalem. It is run by the Legionnaires of Christ and they had not forgotten or forgiven the Master of the Knights, Bald Edwin, how he had treated them in Bald-imore. A runner came through the Dung Gate to give them the message that there was no room at the inn. The Knights and Ladies however were in front of the Golden Gate and wondered how to get into the city. This gate has been bricked up for centuries. And how were they to enter into the city if they did find an open gate? On horseback? On foot? Trade in the horses for mules? It all was so complicated and weighed heavy on them. Finally they entered through the Jaffa Gate. Pretty soon they got lost in the Arab quarters and could neither go forward nor go backward. An Arab vendor approached them to sell rosaries. All dismounted and prayed the rosary. The Blessed Mother heard their plea and finally they found themselves in front of the Holy Sepulcher. They wanted to see the empty tomb. A toothless Orthodox priest asked for a buck to enter. They had arrived at the center of their spirituality. They were greatly moved. When they came out all their horses were gone. Bald Knight Edwin was not amused. He had to go over to the Notre Dame hotel and apologize and ask for help to find the horses. The horses were nibbling around the Garden of Gethsemane. A Franciscan friar took care of the horses. He also took a ham and cheese sandwich. Success, the first Catholic had been found. Only he did not want to be rescued. Where would they find the two others. Stay tuned!
