The afterlife

My Jewish friends do not have to believe in an afterlife. I saw a Jewish website yesterday that clearly stated a Jewish belief in the afterlife and even something of a purgatory or, cleansing as they called it, which occurs after death. What made me chuckle was the fact the the cleansing is only for a year - if you need it at all. Wished that would be so in my religion! So when Jahrzeit comes around you are clean if you are Jewish. The yearlong scrub!
