The New Year's Resolutions
I got a long list from the temple today. St. Martha mentioned the other day that the church seemed empty. I told her to wait and see. "Everyone comes in during the last five minutes." Sure enough as the Mass started the church was full. One thing left out was "not to chew gum." Perhaps we will get that next year. I think it would be nice to hear that we are not just in a building but on holy grounds. Repeat after me: HOLY GROUNDS......Write it on your forehead, your wrists and on your doorposts that you will not forget. I am lately going to the late, late Mass. Found it less disruptive than the early, early Mass. There are a couple of families that are a real trial for me. When father or mother continue with their endless sh....sh....it is doubly distruptive. Sometimes I wonder if it is a sign that I am getting old and cranky. There is something to be said for having been brought up in a Prussian military household. When I was ten, I got upset at my cousin sitting next to me in church and jabbering away. She was four years younger. When she visited me thirty years later, she still thought she could talk to me during Mass. Funny.
