The Son
The son got a new computer yesterday. No, he did not ask for one. I probed and then it became obvious that that would help with his work. Best Buy had written me such a wonderful personal letter that they would revoke the Best Buy credit card for non-use. The solution came quite natural: buy the computer, charge it the the lovely people of Best Buy, and pay it off over 18 months without interest. The son left yesterday with his new computer and was thrilled to death. The son and I get along quite well. Sometimes we argue over who was worse: the Nazis or the Poles? Where I came from there was not any difference. Of course the son was brought up with communistic fairy tales. That there was total ethnic cleansing of the most atrocious kind that robbed us of everything, he was not told in school. He thought the Russians were to blame. I had to tell him that the Russians were bad but the Poles were worse.
