I only got two hours of sleep last night so I was minding my own business this morning when I heard the Rabbi say: "The Holy Spirit do fall." Sounded like hip-hop-rap but I could have meditated on this until the end of Mass.
Afterwards we had the Blessing of the Throats. My friend who sat next to me did not get up and I told her to go and have her throat blessed. Her answer: "But I don't have a sore throat!" What a wonderful evangelizing moment because I could tell her it was a preventive blessing. What I really wanted to tell her was that if she would have had a sore throat the Rabbi would have come with the Last Rites but this was a preventative like a "condom for the throat" blessing. If these blessings are made in China they are not fool proof. Our blessings come from the Diocese and are made in America. I bit my tongue because I did not want to get killed by the Rabbi but if she does get a sore throat later, it will send her to the Rabbi to explain the facts of life to her. I let the Deacon bless me and he passed his Blaises test.
