The Project

I am working on my project for Steubenville. Putting a Confirmation Handbook on the web. I will stay home tomorrow and work another day on it. I got quite a bit done today....
Sitting here wondering if the Rabbi is going to bless our throats on Friday. Two unlit candles get wrapped around your throat. I wonder if they ever lit them in the past. I bet they did and a few people lost their hair in the process. Would you like hair or a healthy throat? There are always choices in our religion. I think the legend is that some fish bone got stuck in somebody's throat and St. Blaise, blaising right along, cured it.

PRAYER OF BLESSING

With the crossed candles touched to the throat of each person, the celebrant says immediately: Through the intercession of Saint Blaise, bishop and martyr, may God deliver you from every disease of the throat and from every other illness:

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, + and of the Holy Spirit.

Each person responds: Amen.

A shorter version of this blessing is: Have a blessed throat and come again soon! We got that from McDonalds.
